Parish Event Suggestions

Parishes who have hosted the Marian Pilgrimage statue participated in many activities to honor Our Mother. Here are a few examples of events your parish could host:

  • Celebrate a Holy Hour with Exposition and Benediction
  • Have “perpetual” Eucharistic Adoration for as long as you are hosting the statue
  • Pray the Rosary in the church
  • Pray the Rosary outside
  • Celebrate a votive Mass dedicated to Mary (especially on a Marian feast day)
  • Pray one of the hours from the Divine Office
  • Host a Marian concert, with hymns sung by the choir or a cantor (or both)
  • Have a mini-pilgrimage with the statue:
    • around your church campus
    • through your church neighborhood
    • through your town square or other high-traffic area
  • Give a talk or a series of talks on Marian themes, for example:
    • the Fatima apparitions
    • the five Marian doctrines
    • the benefit of a spiritual pilgrimage
    • the veneration of statues
    • Mary’s spiritual motherhood
  • Start a parish-wide consecration to Jesus through Mary, with the final day of consecration being when the statue arrives
  • Host the statue on your parish’s feast day (especially if your parish is named after Mary) and celebrate the day with a festival of food, games, and activities for families
  • Hire a professional photographer to take photos of individuals and families with the statue
  • Set up a journal by the statue where people can write their prayer intentions to Mary
  • Have a Marian art contest in your parish school, with one student from each grade winning a prize
  • Dedicate a week of instruction in your parish school to Marian teachings and themes
