Become a Statue Guardian Pilgrim

This pilgrim is committing to at least 3 full days of the pilgrim route. You will be part of a core team that carries the statue and leads daily prayers.

Overnight accommodations will be taken care of at the designated parish and meals will be provided. You will two housing options to choose from:

Option 1: You will be housed by a parish.
Option 2: You will plan your own housing accommodations (whether returning home or staying at a hotel).  You will also be responsible for your own transportation to and from the appropriate parish sites. The CNE/AOC is only responsible for returning Statue Guardians on their final day to the location of their parked cars from the first day of their leg.

This is a first-come-first-serve sign up, with a maximum of 10 guardians per leg, and there will be a $25 non-refundable deposit, which includes water bottle, t-shirt, and a commemorative gift.

  1. Physical Requirement: Statue Guardians will walk at least 40 miles per leg and be expected to help carry (in a team of 4) a 50 pound Mary statue on a platform for 6-15 miles per day (rotating out during the day).
  2. All guardians are required to have completed the VIRTUS Safe Environment course.
  3. Guardians are committing to a rhythm of life as pilgrims, which includes attending daily Mass, daily praying of the rosary, Liturgy of the Hours (morning and evening prayer), small group conversation, and other various prayer experiences offered by parishes.
  4. Additionally, pilgrims will be asked to attend a 2-hour (virtual TBD) orientation session in April, at which time additional questions will be answered, teams will get to meet each other, etc.
